Paraklesis (Supplicatory Canon) of Saint Parthenios, Bishop of Lampsacus, the Wonderworker

O Lord, hear my prayer, give ear to my supplications in Your truth; hear me in Your righteousness. Do not enter into judgment, with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is justified. For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, like those who have long been dead, and my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed. I remembered the days of old; I meditated on all Your works: I pondered on the work of Your hands. I spread out my hands to You; my soul longs for You, like a thirsty land. Hear me quickly, O Lord; my spirit fails. Do not turn Your face away from me, lest I be like those who go down into the pit. Cause me to hear Your mercy in the morning, for in You I have put my trust. Cause me to know, O Lord, the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Rescue me, lord, from my enemies; to You have I fled for refuge. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. Your good Spirit shall lead me in the land of uprightness. For Your name’s sake, O Lord, You shall quicken me. In Your righteousness You shall bring my soul out of trouble, and in Your mercy, You shall utterly destroy my enemies. And you shall destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am Your servant.

As a hierarch of Christ, bearer of God, I have received abundant grace from Him to perform marvelous works, O Parthenios; therefore, through your intercessions, guard us all, Father, from manifold dangers, from all kinds of tribulations, and from the madness of demons, having you as our mediator before the Lord.

Turn Your face away from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation: And establish me with Your governing Spirit. I shall teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, my tongue shall rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For if You had desired sacrifice, I would give it: You do not delight in burnt offering. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, God will not despise a broken and humbled heart. Do good in Your good pleasure to Sion; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then You shall be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with oblation and whole burnt offerings. Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

Suffering from incurable assaults, grieving, Father, at your fervent oversight, I run, begging to be delivered from the harsh tribulation, O Parthenios.

Being in the company of angels, guarding us above the malice of demons and all schemes, through your intercessions, O Holy Parthenios.

Heal us, Father, as compassionate, our suffering, the one that burdens life, our Hierarch and peace, asking for us also the forgiveness of sins.

As Mother of the Creator of all, and guardian of all, O Theotokos of Christians, always protect, O Virgin, those whose souls come to you in faith.

From various diseases and severe afflictions, as God-fearing, redeem and free, those who come to you, from all need and sorrow, O Holy Parthenios.

Your word appeared as fire, O truly Holy one, burning the legions of demons with superior power; therefore, burn up, O Parthenios, the material of our passions, the coal, with your protection.

An impregnable wall, a solid support, a refuge in times of need and trials, become, O Parthenios, an aid to the hearts that turn to you in every circumstance.

Rod, you appeared holy, bearing Christ like a flower, as Isaiah the prophet foretold, to the Holy Spirit, Most Praise-worthy Maiden; therefore, disperse the bad odor from my mind with your fragrance.

Save us, miraculous Hierarch, from all need and from the frenzy of the evil adversary, O Parthenios God-bearer, for those who honor you.

Look upon me, in your kindness, most praised Mother of God, regarding the cruel affliction of my body, and heal the pain of my soul.

Shepherd of Lampsacus, you have been shown to be most godly, and you amazed, all wise, with your miracles; and now, Father, guide those who approach your protection warmly, and grant us, through the fragrant Savior, forgiveness of sins.

Heal, O Saint, the despondency of our souls, and quickly disperse from us the burden of afflictions, granting peace to us and true joy, O all-blessed Father Parthenios, through your intercessions.

O wondrous Parthenios, as you have entirely destroyed the power of unclean spirits, so keep safe from their destructive malice those who hymn you.

Ask forgiveness for us, and the restoration of terrible disasters, and success in life, and every blessing, from God the Father, O Holy One, for those who always come to your holy intercession.

To cultivate repentance, strengthen the fruits in me, O Holy Father, so that I may escape the deception of sin and attain a better life, O Virgin priest, through your intercessions.

Holding in your embrace, like a child the untouched Maiden, free me swiftly from the hands of Belial, and may I come to God through a virtuous life, O Virgin Theotokos.

Deliver me from the power of the enemy, and shine with the light of repentance upon my darkened soul, O Parthenios.

From scandals, sorcery, and deceit, protect, O Parthenios, intact those who seek your guidance.

O Parthenios, who preserves me from bodily and mental ailments, having healed me from the suffering of cancer through your intercession.

Heal me, Maiden, my suffering soul, with terrible passions and many sins, so that I may glorify you, the Full of Grace.

O great wonder-worker, being the doer, do not fail to provide each time, O Parthenios, the requests of each one.

The divine one of Lampsacus, and renowned shepherd, wondrous Hierarch Parthenios, always pray to the Trinity on our behalf.

Now before the throne of the Most High, all-blessed one, constantly present, bring unceasingly the prayers of those who call you blessed, on behalf of all.

Higher than my mind, show me the earthly things, as being higher than all creation, O God-bearer Virgin, so that I may glorify you.

Deliver us from bitter witchcraft and all magic, the workings of the enemy, and keep our life unharmed, Father, from every evil spell of the all-pitiless one.

You heal painful diseases and the suffering of cancer, having compassionately cured, grant us strength in life and health, O all-blessed Parthenios, through your intercession.

Rejoice, imitator of the Apostles, and of the High Priests, a sacred adornment, rejoice in the miracles, fountain of abundant grace, O most blessed Parthenios, our help.

Do not fail, Father, to remove the curse, the Master of all, who always gives us forgiveness of sins and all prosperity, O most blessed Parthenios, as most compassionate.

With the hosts of Angels, God's messengers, With the Lord's Forerunner, And Apostles, the chosen twelve, With the saints most holy, And with you, the Theotokos, We seek your intercession For our salvation.

The doors of caring do now open unto us, O most blessed Theotokos, So that hoping in you we shall not fail; Through you we may be delivered from adversities, For you are the salvation of the Christian faith.

Divine Hierarch, illustrious, and shining forth with a multitude of miracles, O Father Parthenios, deliver those who come to You from every circumstance, from the bitterness of suffering, from the malice of demons, from treachery, and from sorcery; for You have great boldness before the King of all, fulfilling all requests.

Lady, do you receive, From your servants, their many prayers; And deliver all of us, From all sadness and necessity.

My numerous hopes are placed Before you, most holy One; Mother of our God, Guard me with care, within your sheltered arms.
